The Golden Shadow
The Golden Shadow is the second headpiece designed for ritual dancer Caeli La to be worn onstage performing for Shpongle (Raja Ram) during Infrasound Music Festival 2016.
Inspired by a female solar goddess, and the Egyptian cobra deity, Wadjet. I feel the embodiment of this energy when dealing with sovereignty issues between males and females with the emerging narrative of the rising feminine during our time. The Medusa eyes, hold the cold fire of soft power we have as women to make an indomitable boundary. The making of this piece, The Golden Shadow, and the piece before it, Medusae, have been aspects of an attempt to reclaim Medusa as a symbol but also as an energetic piece of the divine feminine that was excommunicated from us by man. The Golden Shadow is a stoic blissful golden energy. Kundalini rising up along the spine to be radiating through the eyes. This goddess energy is sovereign protector, known as "rearing one", a symbol of royalty, divine authority, heat, fire, and light. Snakes were also depicted on headdresses of pharaohs thought to spit fire from their eyes, and whisper into the ears of the pharaoh the will of the divine.
